Introduction to Wireless and Mobile Systems
Focusing on qualitative descriptions and the realistic explanations of relationships between wireless systems and performance parameters, this user-friendly book helps you learn this exciting technology through relevant examples, such as understanding how a cell phone starts working as soon as they get out of an airplane. Dharma P. His current research interests include energy efficient routing, information retrieval, and secured communication in ad hoc and sensor networks, effective handoff handling and multicasting in integrated wireless networks, interference analysis in piconets and routing in scatternet, and use of smart directional antennas for enhanced QoS. Zeng is a senior member of IEEE. Convert currency. Add to Basket.

Designed as a textbook appropriate for undergraduate or graduate courses in Computer Science CS , Computer Engineering CE , and Electrical Engineering EE , Introduction to Wireless and Mobile Systems third edition focuses on qualitative descriptions and the realistic explanations of relationships between wireless systems and performance parameters. Rather than offering a thorough history behind the development of wireless technologies or an exhaustive list of work being carried out, the authors help CS, CE, and EE students learn this exciting technology through relevant examples such as understanding how a cell phone starts working as soon as they get out of an airplane. Challenging open ended experimental questions have been added into many chapters.

Wireless & Mobile Networks - 1. Introduction
How to efficiently support multi-class services is a very important issue in integrated wireless and mobile networks because each type of services has distinct characteristics and quality of service QoS requirements. This paper presents an efficient algorithm for near optimal channel allocation when different types of services are to be provided in the next generation integrated wireless and mobile networks. We specifically propose a preemptive priority scheme for an integrated wireless and mobile network by first dividing channels into three independent groups and classifying traffic into four different types. The proposed system is modeled by a multi-dimension Markov chain model.
We are pleased and honored to present this third edition of Introduction toWireless and Mobile Systems. Wireless and mobile communication technologies are advancing at an unprecedented rate, and the timely release of the third edition is our endeavor to keep pace with this rapid technological evolution. The content of this edition has been revised based on extensive reviews conducted on the second edition of this book. Other major changes include splitting the previous single chapter on Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks into two separate chapters.
